In each of the holes there was a thin coating of black material a
little of which was scraped from one of the holes and examined.
The material was extracted with acetone, the solution filtered
and evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in alcohol,
the solution filtered and evaporated to dryness. The final
residue was yellow, resinous-looking and had a slight aromatic
smell when warm and was almost certainly resin.
