<> Curved section.

A ceremonial shield of wood, open work, covered with stucco, and gilt. The symbolical device depicts the king slaying two lions with a scimitar. The king striding wears the short wig, fillet, and atef crown; behind him the vulture Nekhebet upon <>-sign supported by papyrus emblems. The two lions he holds by their tails. Surmounting the device the winged-solar-disk. Below a mat above the <>-sign for land. To the right, in front of the king a tablet bearing three vertical lines of text reading: - <> lion

Note Both these shields are much warped and in bad condition - they had to be mounted on linen. On the back of these shields were patches of hide for strengthening purposes.
