Round sockets for poles in corners. These were separate pieces of wood. Tops 1. down from
top rim. Round peg holes at either side of each corner of canopy to fasten these poles. Lattice
work at top of light slats 1 wide x 1.3 deep. These tongued into frame. 2 down from top rim.
Poles to be noted later (Annexe).
B. Pole stays
Rings of bronze painted yellow. These fitted into round poles of wood covered with gilt gesso.
Method of fastening not visible. Decoration of incised rings. At ends and at intervals along
pole bands left ungilt. In these bands there were fastening holes.
Shorter stay perfect: longer one had both ends broken.
C. Hinged bars
Decorated with incised lines.
