4 in diam., projecting 1.5. Under lid two battens of red wood, 1 x .8, fitting snugly into ends. Lid opened by means of two bronze hinges of ring and pin type, one ring on lid and two on box. Rings .4 wide. 2nd lid resting on partitions (see diagram). Ebony knob 3.4 in diam, projecting 1.3. Hinged by means of projections at ends, fitting into rounded slots in side frame of box. Inside divided into six by partitions of red wood, with rounded tops (see diagram). Bottom of box fits inside frame.
