Decorated shoe along S end of box. L. foot.

Sole of raw hide, now turned to a black resinous mass. Fastened to this above thin gold sheet, corrugated sideways to shoe. Centre panel of this independent (see sketch). This seems to have been covered originally with some black substance. There was no toe-thong, so shoe rather than sandal.

Side of shoe.

Side & heel. Border of leather <> pattern. In panel 10 rows of gold circles & diamonds attached by thread holes.

Upper row alternate circles & diamonds,

2nd " all diamonds.

3rd " as top & so on.

Diamonds were yellow in colour, circles were red. Round upper rims of shoe a string of beads, disc shape. Every other bead gold, other blue, red and green, strung very irregularly. Red were carnelian, others glass(?) (cont.)
