574. LID OF A BOX
(SEE No. 79)

POSITION: Lying on the floor under a mass of miscellanea in the N.E. corner of chamber (see photo No. 1148).

DIMENSIONS: -

<> 37.0 hieratic docket 31.0 ivory studs knob incised inscription filled in with yellow pigment reading:

<> palimpsest over <> <> palimpsest over <> <> palimpsest over <> <>

Description: - This lid is constructed in exact similar manner to box No. 79 (found in the Antechamber) to which it belongs. Note the inscription down the central slat was without doubt original for Smenkh-ka-Re & his wife Mert-Aten. Note the peculiar reading unusual like the Tut-ankh-Amen objects. Hieratic docket on one panel (see photo)
