566. SHIELD

POSITION: - Thrown in N.W. corner of chamber, behind casket No. 551 - (not visible in photos) (see No. 551 in photo 1147). DIMENSIONS: - Max. L. 73.5; Max. W. 51.5.

DESCRIPTION: - Shield, made of wood in several pieces pegged together, edges and central panel covered with stucco, the remaining field covered with the hide of a (?) cheetah (see spots), a considerable amount of the hair preserved. Edges delineated in red with <> border. Central panel embossed and delineated in red, the device comprising the prenomen and nomen of the King. A pair of holes pierced through each side and at the top within the border.
