467. A FOUR LEGGED STOOL (wood, painted white, and gold). 1
POSITION:
Lodged between bedstead No. 466 and the east wall of the chamber
in the most precarious position (evidently as it was thrown) -
(see photo 1142).
DIMENSIONS:
Max. H. 45.0; W. 45.0 x 43.0; cents.
DESCRIPTION:
A four legged stool of wood painted white; ornament between legs,
seat and stretcher covered with thin sheet gold; caps of feet of
copper and bronze.
The four legs carved in feline form, claws gilt, caps of copper &
bronze, are braced together by stretchers.
Between legs, stretchers and seat, the traditional ornament 'the
binding of the two kingdoms' of open wood-work covered with thin
sheet gold.
The concave seat made of cross batons tongued together & held by
means of gold nails. Around the edge a cornice thus:
