404 AN OVI-FORM VASE (CALCITE)
(Thothmes III)

POSITION: Resting on floor S. end of chamber opposite doorway - (see photos 1138, 1139, 1140, 1141)

DIMENSIONS: Max. H. 35; max. diam. width, 26.5, cents. diam. of lip 20, cents.

DESCRIPTION: A large inverted oviform vase with flattened bottom, wrought of semi-translucent calcite. Bow oviform; short diverging neck; wide lip. Bears an incised inscription on bowl, giving the prenomen and nomen of Thothmes III, and the capacity (see note attached).

REMARKS: Contents robbed, slight residue at bottom. Limestone stopper (found displaced) had been luted to mouth. Traces of linen binding round neck showing that the stopper had been covered with linen. Lip and neck broken and mended anciently. Bowl cracked and repaired anciently.
