403, B. HEAD-REST

DIMENSIONS: Max. L. 27.9; Max. W. 10.0; Max. H. 19.0; cents.

DESCRIPTION: A head-rest of lapis lazuli-blue faience (glazed pottery); in very fair condition. The central column octagonal, with facets slightly hollow. On lower part of central front facet <> in turquoise-blue glaze; and on the central back facet also in turquoise-blue glaze: <> The head-rest is obviously made of two pieces, joined in similar manner as the glass head-rest (403, a); the joint is covered by a broad band (1.6 cents) of thin sheet gold inlaid as follows: -

<> repeat 1= turquoise-blue 2= red 3= lapis lazuli-blue glass the bands and <> of gold.
