402 THE HANDLE OF AN ADZE (BRONZE and GOLD)

A (? ritualistic) heavy bronze adze-handle; finely worked and inlaid with gold as follows: - on back of handle: <> on end of handle: <> inlaid gold

The binding of the blade of ribbon sheet-gold. Blade (? of gold) stolen by tomb-plunderers.

<> Max. L. 18.5 cents.

POSITION: Thrown among a mass of material in front of doorway about 1 metre in chamber. (Not visible in photo - se 1138)
