Curved section.
A ceremonial shield, of wood, of openwork, covered with stucco,
gilt and inlaid with ebony (Negroes).
The symbolical device represents the king as a human headed
sphinx wearing the crowns of Up. and Low. Egypt, trampling upon
African (southern) foes of Egypt. Behind the king a face, above
which a Nekhebet (Buto) hawk holding in its talons the <>-sign.
The whole device is surmounted with the winged-solar-disk.
To the right, in front of the King, a tablet bearing three
vertical lines of hieroglyphic texts reading: -

The negroid foes (one on right with feather in his headdress)
rest upon a mat under which is the <> emblem of land.
