373. PAIR OF SANDALS

POSITION: On floor below doorway (not visible in photos).

DIMENSIONS: Max. L. 30.5 x Max. W. 10.5 cents.

DESCRIPTION: A pair of basket work sandals: - the fibre 'skains' upon which these are woven are from the fruit bearing stalks of the date-palm; the 'strokes' are narrow strips from the fronds of the date-palm, or possibly the dôm-palm. The toe and instep straps made of papyrus pith.
