340 LARGE SINGE-HANDLED JAR (CALCITE) (hnm form)

POSITION: Lying on top of a mass of objects, in front of right hand door-jamb of chamber (see photo 1135). DIMENSIONS: Max. H. 53.7 cents; Max. width 30 cents.

DESCRIPTION: A large single-handled jar, wrought of calcite. Shoulders sloping; converging sides; flat bottom; short cylindrical neck, top piece with tip made of a separate piece luted into lower part at juncture of handle. No ornamentation saved ribbed edge to tip, imitative lashing of handle, and binding of handle imitating (?) leather.

REMARKS: Stained. Contents robbed; small quantity of residue (see sample) on bottom. Some fruits found in it are probably from the baskets. No inscription. No traces of a lid or stopper having been luted to it. Lid found in Antechamber No. 96, b.
