331. BOX CONTAINING CENOTAPH 1
POSITION: -
Centre of N.E. corner of chamber; standing on (head) end, as
left by the intruders.
DIMENSIONS: - L. 48; W. 20.7; Max. H. 26, cents.
DESCRIPTION: -
Oblong model coffin-like box of wood; lid vaulted and abutting
upright ends (7.5 cents. high); lid pegged on to box.
Exterior surfaces varnished with black resin; interior left
plain; has a long slab of wood fixed in the interior to
receive the cenotaph.
The box stands on end battens.
CONTENTS: -
Disturbed, i.e., the linen padding (a piece of folded linen
protecting the figure) had been lifted by thieves manifestly
for examining contents.

bier - in shape a bed of lion form.
Carved out of a block of (? cedar) - wood.
