Handlist description: Mummy of a child ritualistically wrapped

Card/Transcription No.: 317a-02

317, a. (continued) 2

317 a(2) A miniature mummy ritualistically wrapped (photo) (see 317 B.(2)). Head covered with a gesso-gilt mask, several sizes too large.

(wrapping) Linen covering; 5 transverse bands; two triple longitudinal bands around sides and over front and back, in the same of a normal mummy of the period. The wrappings comprised about 1.5 cents in thickness, but were in bad order; pads over chest, legs & stiffeners for feet were very apparent.

Contents: - A child of premature birth, perfectly preserved.
