293, A. FIGURE OF THE HAWK HEADED GOD HERUR

Covered with linen tied at the throat. Wreath around neck (partly fallen from decay) see note P. E. N. Max. H. (including pedestal) 56.8, pedestal, 21 x 12.5 x 6, cms Figure of the god, carved of wood, gesso-gilt, wears Usekh-collar, eyes and facial markings inlaid of obsidian, gold and coloured glass, beak of bronze. Pedestal, varnished with black resin, inscribed with yellow paint: <> Resin (black) had oozed out of the gilt surface in places.
