160 = 122 (f) Wooden hawk, covered with gesso and gilt.

1. Position S.E. corner of chamber: behind chariot 161.

2. Dimensions Pedestal 16.5 x 5.8 x 4.5 at back: 4 in front. Hawk 18.5 x 7.8 (i.e. spread of tail x 19.5 high from pedestal. Disk 19 high x 19.5 wide.

3. Description Material wood, covered with gesso, & overlaid with gold. Crowned with disk of same material. Legs and feet of metal, piercing body of bird and pedestal. On these metal legs the leg feathers, a separate piece of wood in each case, were threaded. Pedestal rounded as in 157, with similar binding holes at ends, but no third hole. Traces of the leather bindings left. No binding holes on tail. Ornamentation. Feathers of hawk modelled in relief in the gesso.
