122

(a) Axle decoration (cont.) of shape <> with inlay of same material. Upper part of this plaque had <> This centres on and conceals the end of the pole, which rested on top of the axle. At the edge of each of these bands there was an applied band of thicker gold .7 wide with rope pattern.

Treatment. Cleaned with warm water & ammonia. Repaired with glue. Treated with hot paraffin wax.
