separated from frame proper by a space of 18. This in two pieces, glued together (?), <> in section, upper being 1.2 in diam., and lower 2.5 in diam. Back floor bar 8 wide x 1 thick. In this bar <> holes 2 x 1, zig-zagged <>, to take floor mesh. Corresponding holes, but not zigzagged in bottom of circular frame. Mesh apparently of leather strip: above this there had been an imitation fleece of linen with linen tufts sewn on, mat covered by two thicknesses of cloth. Framework filled in, but for oval spaces at sides, with very thin boarding not more than .8 in thickness, fastening to outer edges of the circular frame, and following same curve. In front, immediately below upper bar, two slots 23.5 apart, 6-4.5 long x circ. .8 wide, to take the leather stay bands which fastened body of chariot to pole. Between these four round holes, possibly for quiver fastenings.
