Treatment. On the top there was a large mass of perished leather from the chariots in the form of black, brittle pitch-like material. The greater part of this chipped off readily with the fingers, the rest was removed with water. The gold which was very tarnished was cleaned with dilute ammonia and after washed with water. Several loose pieces of gold were fastened in with casein adhesive.
