Handlist description: Folded pad of cloth (shawl)

Card/Transcription No.: 101f

101 (f) Folded pad of cloth (Shawl)

This must have been a similar pad to the two in (a), but it had come partly undone. It opened out to a shawl about 180 long x 90 wide. One end had a fringe about 6 long - i.e. warp end in loom, 4 or 5 threads being bunched & then 4 bunches being twisted together. At the other end the cloth was rolled over and sewn. One side was selvedge edge of cloth. The other had an applied edge of braid, .4 wide

The shawl was extremely fine linen. Threads to the inch about 140 x 70

Sprayed with cellulose acetate in acetone
