(k) Cont.

Makeweight of gold openwork, with cloisonné inlay of blue and green faience or glass, and
carnelian. Made in three sections. Apparently with vertical curve, but this doubtful as gold was
somewhat crushed and bent.
Design see phot. In centre scarab of blue glass (?) supporting a carnelian disk with fore-legs.
In place of centre legs spreading bird's legs and claws in gold, holding gold ankhs. In place of
hind legs a spreading tail of six feathers, details being indicated by pieces of carnelian and
green & blue faience (?). On either side a uraeus, body of carnelian & blue & green glass, tail
of gold. One with crown of Upper Egypt in white stone or glass, the other with crown of
Lower Egypt in gold. From necks of these uraei hang second ankhs. Between scarab & uraei
plumes in carnelian, & blue & green glass (?) inlay.
