316. PLAIN WOODEN BOX (See 315, 317) 1
POSITION: -
N.E. corner of chamber; cord and seals broken; lid partially open and pushed aside; knobs
towards west.
DIMENSIONS: -
L. 60.5; W. 42.3; Max. H. (including lid) 50, cents.
DESCRIPTION: -
Plain oblong wooden box; stands upon four rectangular legs; torus and cavetto cornice;
gable shaped lid; knob on lid and front of box, to which cord was tied and sealed; cord
broken & seal destroyed, leaving insufficient to tell what kind of seal was employed.
CONTENTS: -
Empty save sixteen (?) model implements (the blades of three found detached from their
handles). One of the implements was found lying on the floor in front of the box - see 316
A-P.
REMARKS: -
The contents of this box had evidently been robbed, and whatever it contained was coated
with black resin - this from the drops and blobs of resin on the bottom of the box. It is
hardly conceivable that so large a box contained the small implements alone.
