97. Large Reed Basket

1. Position On floor of chamber: under throne.

2. Dimensions Oval. About 37 x 23. Height circ. 11.5.

3. Description Basket built up of a series of bundles of reed fibre, about 1.3 in diam., woven together by thin strips of reed, 9 such bundles went to the height. Lid & bottom made by laying one bundle the required length & spiralling out from it <>. At 3 down from rim inside two smaller bundles, fastened together and to sides, to support lid. Lid sat on these so that only 2 of its height appeared above basket. (cont)
