intentional, so that while bases stood square to wall, the statues
themselves would have a slight turn outwards.
This statue, like 22, had originally a fine linen covering.
4. Treatment
Gold: Cleaned with warm water and ammonia.
Black: Cleaned with water: sprayed with acetone.
Repairs: Loose stopping near shoulder re-fastened with glue.(1)
Strengthening: Blisters and hollows in gesso filled with paraffin wax.
Loose eye-brows re-fastened with celluloid cement.
(1) Similar place to repairs on No. 22. Large patches of stopping near join
at shoulder were loose.
