2. Dimensions 12.2 (without knob) x 5.5 x 3.8

3. Description

Box proper In form of cartouche, cut from a single block of cedar.

Thickness of sides .6. Thickness of cartouche bar .7. Inner edge to outside of cartouche bar 1.6. At end representing top of cartouche an ivory knob, 1 in diam., painted red. This projects .6 and has a pin through centre, also of ivory, .3 in diam. Other end has groove for lid <>.

Interior of box painted white. Flaw on rim filled with yellow

gesso ?

Lid Wood .4 thick.

Curved battens at either end to fit rim of box (cont.)
