14 Alabaster (Calcite) Cup (or Chalice)

Not original (found inside blocking of inner doorway 13).
Dimensions:
H. 18cm, diam. 17 cm., w. including side ornaments 30cm.
Description:
Bowl of floral form, carved in low relief on exterior to
represent the calyx or whorl of sepals and petals of a
lotus flower. It is supported by a hollow stem and foot
of inverted trumpet shape. Flanking the bowl are buds and
flowers of the lotus, in open-work, which spring from the
base of the foot, and support neb-signs upon which are
symbols hh holding ankhs signifying "eternal life". On
the central sepal of the bowl is the following legend: <> and around
the lip of bowl is a band of inscription
reading from L to R: <>, from R. to L.: <>.

Remarks:
Intact. Washed with cold water to remove yellowish film
deposit: removed patches of brown material from inside and
spots of brown material from outside by treatment with xylol.
