maidens gather flowers and the fruit of the mandrake for their
charges. Surrounding this scene is a conventional floral
border, also of carved and stained ivory, and the usual
rectangular pattern of inlaid ivory, ebony, faience, and
calcite. Above, on the curvature of the lid, is a long narrow
inlaid panel of floral design in carved and stained ivory.
The knobs upon this box are of wood gesso-gilt.
