469 POMEGRANATE-VASE (SILVER).

On floor under No. 452; where thrown by the tomb-plunderers.(Not

DESCRIPTION:
A silver vase of pomegranate form, the contents of which unknown,
as it was found fallen on its side the contents poured out.
It has on the rim nine sepals, one of which broken off anciently
and found inside the vase together with the rush stopper which
had been forced in. Around the neck was the remains of rush
binding which evidently held the stopper in place.
The neck & bowl engraved with following decoration: around neck a
band of petal-device(a), which is repeated around the shoulder(b);
another band of cornflower and (?) olive-leaf(c) device round the
upper part of the bowl.

The bottom of the vase is slightly flattened.
