317. (B). (2) MUMMY OF A CHILD (Examination by Derry). 1
This child probably a girl, whose L. from the vertex to heels is
36.1 cm. is also of premature birth (see 317 A (2)).
The skin is of much the same colour and in the same condition as
that of the younger foetus (317. A. (2)). The linen wrappings
which are in a very fragile state are still partially attached to
the child.
The limbs are fully extended, but in this case the hands are
placed beside the thighs in the position of pronation.
The scalp is free from hair except for some very fine downy
looking hairs in the occipital region, but most of the hair has
probably come away with the bandages. The eyebrows are distinct
and a few eyelashes remain.
The eyes are wide open and the orbital cavity contains only the
