309. MODEL BOAT (See 284, 306, 314, 273, 310, 287) 1

POSITION: S.E. corner of chamber; resting black shrines; beneath a number of boats; bows towards west.

DIMENSIONS: L. overall (i.e., the longer axis of boat) 111; Max. beam 16; Max. depth 9 cents. Cabin: L. 30.6; W. 12; H. 12.5 cents.

DESCRIPTION: Represents a carvel-built boat, with stem and stern pieces; deck; central cabin; overhanging forecastle and poop decks with 'look-outs'; and paddle steering gear upon crutches and cross-beams. Made out of a log of wood; the stem and stern pieces of separate pieces of wood; shaped and planed with an adze.

The two ends (stem and stern) rise in a curved line and end with blunt ends. The stem and stern pieces form under the bows and stern a ridge like keel pieces which gradually melt into the rounded bottom of the boat.

The main deck, 51.5 cents in length, is very slightly cambered, and has a bulwark 1 cent. in height.
