256, UUU. PECTORAL - gold inlaid 1

POSITION: PECTORAL: thorax, low right side, suspended from neck. PENDANT: below nape of neck (see group 4.E).

DIMENSIONS: PECTORAL: Max. H. 8.5 cents.; Max. W. 9.0 cents. Chain: L. 65 cents. = suspension 30 cents. PENDANT: Max. L. 3.5 cents.

DESCRIPTION: Solar-hawk with circular spread wings, supporting on head a solar-disc (carnelian) and gold uraeus; holds in talons šn symbols (gold inlaid with carnelian stone and turquoise blue glass). Body: (i.e. breast and abdomen) of open scale gold-work cage, enclosing a (?)kind of green stone. Head, chin and throat plain gold engraved. Wings: 'primaries' - lapis lazuli, field between tips of feathers carnelian 'Secondaries' - lapis lazuli tipped with carnelian. 'Alulae' or 'Bastard wings' - as 'primaries' 'Wing coverts' - lapis lazuli tipped with carnelian. 'Lesser coverts' - carnelean. Tail - Retrices - chevrons of lapis lazuli and carnelian alternate.
