256, J. Apron - Gold inlaid
POSITION:
Thighs: centre, from pubis down to knees.
DIMENSIONS:
Max. L. 35.5; Min. W. 6.3; Max. W. 9.1 (at bottom).
DESCRIPTION:
A ceremonial apron, made up of seven sections, inlaid with
opaque coloured glasses and carnelian - (for details see note
attached). On each side of the sections are eyelets through
which were passed threads of beads, forming a bead-work
border, by which the sections were held together. There was
also a thread of beads at back, down centre, commencing from
top of first section and ending at fifth - their purpose not
understood. (See photo and diagram attached).

It should be noted that the last <> db3 biti r ph.f two
(bottom) sections, have not eyelets at the back and (?) may be
inter-changeable.
