256, 4.I. A vulture (of Gyps fulvus - griffon vulture type).

POSITION: NECK: Right side. Attached by linen thread. Fourth amulet of group V - 4F, 4G, 4H, 4I, 4I bis, 4J, 4K and 4L.

DIMENSIONS: H. 8.5 cents

DESCRIPTION: An amulet of <> form, facing to left of mummy, of sheet gold with details finely chased. Has an eyelet at back for suspension, which was by means of linen thread.

REMARKS: 4I and 4H are possibly of a different species to the other three vultures (4I bis, 4J and 4L) in this group. cf. Lacau, Sarcophages, pl. XXXV. 100, coffin 28093 (23), inscribed: (1) <> (2) <> (?) (3) <> (4) <> (5) <>.
