223 (a) & (b) Two straight sticks with forked bottoms.

1. Position
Between outermost and second shrines: standing on left (south) side of doors.

2. Dimensions
(a) L. 152. Diam. at top 2, tapering to 1.5 above fork.
Fork 3 long: spread at end 4
(b) L. 157.7. Diam. at top 2.1, tapering to 1.5 above fork.
Fork 11.5 long: spread at end 7

3.Description
Forked bottom sticks, covered throughout with gesso and overlaid with gold.
Forks seemed to be natural, but this point could not be determined with certainty owing to
gesso covering. 
The two sticks were tied together with linen strip at 39, 79.5, 108 & just above fork.

4. Treatment
Cleaned with warm water & ammonia, and waxed.
