94 Reed Sandal (a) and wooden model hoe (b)
(a) Reed sandal for right foot. Would fit boy of about 10.
1. Position
On floor of chamber, under throne. Original position doubtful.
2. Dimensions
Max. L. 22. W. at widest point 8; at instep 6.5; at heel 7.
3. Description
Sole Tiny bundles of reed slips, .3 wide, laterally. To these applied a weave of narrow strips
of reed, like bass. Edge, .9 wide, consisting of three slips woven reverse way.
Toe thong starts 4.5 from point of shoe. It was .5 in diam., and consisted of a core of papyrus
(?), bound round with a strip of firm reed .6 wide. Thong pieces sole & tied in knot
underneath.
Side thongs similar but gradually widen to 1.8 at top.
These bound to toe thong by wide strips of papyrus (?), 1.5 at top.
