Ornamentation side (facing seated person on throne). Central column of text reading: <> R and L. panels three rhyt-birds upon nbs with dw3 stars before them. These are in gilt-gesso upon dark blue faience. The whole device surrounded with the <> pattern as the top. Ornamentation side (furthest from person on throne) same as above.

Construction

under surface painted dark red.

Remarks No. 89 = two gauntlets were resting upon the top of this stool. Piece missing from faience on tip. The stool was resting upon the seat of the throne 91 Treatment Removed superficial dust with bellows & small brush. Washed with damp sponge and small damp brush. Re-fastened in loose gesso with celluloid cement. Washed gilt with dilute ammonia and afterwards with water. Sprayed whole with solution of celluloid in amyl acetate. Underneath treated loose gesso with melted paraffin wax.
