This must refer to the ewers, which are a rich lapis lazuli blue. There were 17 ewer-lids, but
only 16 ewers. what has become of the other. Some of these were probably in their original
position - e.g. 5 were ranged against the east side, and three against the north. (Probable
original arrangement 3 rows of 5. Only one had its lid still in position. Thrown in with these in
no sort of order there were other faience cups, 3 statuettes, (one in glass, one in limestone, one
in silver(?)), 2 gloves(?) a bangle, a collar, etc. etc.
Near the bottom of the box there was a piece from one of the chariots, this fact showing both
the extent of the damage done by the plunderers, and also the casual nature of the repacking.

5. Remarks
Ebony frame cleaned with damp sponge, and red painted panels sprayed with solution of
celluloid in acetone.
