N.M. Davies & A.H. Gardiner, Tutankhamun's Painted
Box.
27 pp; 50 x 38.5 cm; 5 coloured plates; ISBN 0 900416 22 X;
1962; box. £30.00.
The main interest of this publication lies in its faithful
coloured reproductions of the sides
and lid of the wooden box (Carter's No. 21, now in Cairo
Museum JE 61467) found in
Tutankhamun's tomb. The scenes showing the young king in his
chariot hunting animals
and slaying enemies are deservedly famous. In the accompanying
text they are described
and discussed.
